Spread was developed to showcase the role of design, and the methodology found in the process of designing, to a public audience that may not be aware of what design is or what it tries to accomplish.
Using a simple delivery of two display areas (in design parlance two pages side-by-side are referred to as a “spread”), the designers showcase their methodolgy on one side and the finished work on the other. The initial phase is juxtaposed against the final execution and creates a stark visual contrast – rewarding the viewer with insight and understanding of the design process.
By presenting this exhibition of design thinking and execution, we help legitimize the design journey through a visually descriptive discourse. We elevate the overall perception of the individuals within the profession by showing the viewer what goes into a design.
