Northern Saskatchewan Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NSITEP) – Logo
Gabriel Dumont Institute held a contest for Indigenous students to design a new logo for the NSITEP. The resulting graphic was an artistic render of a common sight for our northern communities – a beautiful sunset over a calm boreal forest body of water.
The student designed graphic needed to be redrawn and redesigned to work within modern applications to ensure consistency and ease of use. Focus was placed on maintaining the overall aesthetic while paring down unnecessary elements to streamline the graphic. The real challenge was making the full-colour graphic into a limited colour graphic – a required step to allow the logo to be useful in all corporate deliverables.
The logo was given a custom typographic treatment that also included an acronym version. This provided the client the availability to use specific logo layouts for any foreseeable use. A simple logo guide was developed to help ensure consistency in the future.
